The following positions below are available:
Academic Tutor (on-going)
Eligibility: ages 21- up (undergraduate- graduate student)
Responsibilities:
- Host individual and/or group tutoring sessions via online and in-person
- Prepare and facilitate tutoring workshops, collaborative projects, or academic support sessions for small groups of students.
- Review and assist with recent and current homework assignments and test scores
- Employ study aides to prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes
- Prepare lesson plans or learning modules for tutoring sessions according to students’ needs and goals
- Ask students about specific struggling topics or areas that warrant further exploration
- Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students
- Communicate with parents/guardians about the struggling areas or issues that require attention through written progress reports, in person, by phone, or by email
- Research or recommend textbooks, software, equipment, or other learning materials to complement tutoring
- Assist with the training and development of new colleagues when onboarding new team members
- Participate and host bi-weekly and weekly Academic tutor meetings with team members for content and lesson planning
- Administer pre-post test, quizzes, and exams
- Prepare, create, and submit students’ progress reports.
- Participate in all staff development meetings and professional development training sessions
Qualifications: Entry – Intermediate level
- Excellent communication skills
- Adaptable to a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to work with students one-on-one and in small groups
- Ability to work with students ages 5-18 one-on-one
- Ability to tutor in at least two of the following core subjects: Math, Geometry, Algebra, Statistics, English Literature, Language Arts, etc.
- Available to work at least 24-40 hours per week during the academic year
- 6 months or more of work experience with you
- Must be enrolled in an accredited community college and/or university

Homework Lab Tutor (on-going)
Eligibility: ages 16- up (high school and undergraduate students)
Responsibilities:
- Host small-large group tutoring sessions with students via online and in-person
- Prepare and facilitate tutoring workshops, collaborative projects, or academic support sessions for small groups of students, host small group enrichment support
- Review and assist with recent and current homework assignments and test scores
- Employ study aides to prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes
- Prepare lesson plans or learning modules for tutoring sessions according to students’ needs and goals
- Ask students about specific struggling topics or areas that warrant further exploration

Volunteer
Eligibility: ages 16- up (high school, undergraduate students, graduate students, adults, seniors)
Opportunities available include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with fundraising projects
- Assisting with outreach projects and initiatives
- Providing peer mentorship to students
- hosting educational workshops or classes for DUYA staff/ students
- Participate in program evaluations and data tracking
- Assisting with grant writting
- Assist with tutoring individually or in small groups
- hosting musical or cultural art workshops for DUYA staff/ students
- Assisting with a community or fundraising event
